While biking home this week I’ve been thinking quite a lot about the bombings in Brussels. Having been there only two weeks earlier, and living only a few hours away, it feels strangely unreal and close.
Talking to my parents on the phone, my mom said something that she’s told me and my brother since we were young:
“There is no point in being constantly afraid, since anything can happen anywhere and at any time.”
Even though it’s logical, it’s sometimes difficult to remember. Her approach to life is to instead spend that energy to think about the good things in life and do our best to enjoy it.
All while hoping that we get to stick around for a long, long time.
